SEAT Alhambra

Introduced in 1996, the SEAT Alhambra remained in production until 2020. This versatile MPV is a fine family car, not least because of its seven-seat capacity. But there’s much more than practicality to recommend it. For a start, it’s good to drive, comes well-specified as standard and boasts a strong selection of engines. As What Car? puts it, “It’s a fantastic MPV.”

One of many reasons why the Alhambra is so popular is its wide-opening sliding side doors, providing second and third-row travellers with unfettered access. Passengers in the second row are treated to individual full-size seats which slide back and forth and can also be reclined. The Alhambra’s two third-row seats are ideal for younger travellers, but over short distances they’re more than adequate for adult occupants. The vehicle’s tailgate opens flush with the roof, revealing a wide aperture that allows easy storage of shopping, luggage and more. A 267-litre boot expands to 658 litres in five-seat mode – and with all but the front seats folded, 2,297 litres of cargo capacity is made available.

Depending on the model you select, it’ll likely come with a 1.4-litre 148bhp petrol engine or 2.0-litre diesel engine, the latter offering a power output of either 148bhp or 175bhp.
